Tuesday 9th March, 2021

I have just heard that Ms Sturgeon has allowed a minor change in lockdown as from this coming Friday. More people can meet out of doors but inside socialising is still reserved to bubbles! Yet I heard something about worshipping so long as not too many people. I hope this will mean I can get back to Church going. It is not just my faith in the Sacramental life of my church but an opportunity to find a place that is dedicated to the things of God. I am surprised at how much that means to me. Any way we will see and, as ever, the relaxation is accompanied by much warning and fearsome 'but ifs...'.

After breakfast and a couple of letters written I drove to see a friend. It is within a five mile radius restriction but was to do with the purchase and search for a place to live. The friend had heard of a flat in nearby Cupar which she wanted to show me. On the way I popped in to the Community Centre to help with the food bank.

I arrived at the friend's to find all set up for the flat search. A two bedroomed flat, en suite, but with only one other room which was kitchen, dining and sitting room all in one. It looked fine and in a good Scottish building of the nineteenth century and near shops etc. I then contacted my friend who is doing the real search for me and looking to the economic value between Cupar and Cheltenham. I am now ever more eager to move as I am generating an excitement. It is time to begin a new phase in my life.

My friend gave me a delicious prawn and avocado and melon plata followed by a superb rich chocolate mousse. On my way back I stopped off at a wood recommended to me for walking. It was quiet and unmanaged so that fallen trees were allowed to lie, to rot and be infested by grubs, bracken grew and moss everywhere, woodpeckers seemed to be having a great time and it felt utterly silent and natural. My meal had made me feel bloated but the walk helped. I also was surprised to see three herons flying in semi formation toward the Tay. I did not have my litter grabber with me but spotted detritus yet ignored it.

Back home I did some laundry and settled down to read. A cloudy cool day made marvellous by the company of a friend. How valuable are human contacts and relationships. I do so dislike the thought of everything on line or through chat rooms. Like going to a service rather than streaming one...so much more tangible and real.
