I was somewhat startled to be woken this morning by a telephone call. It was from my local dental surgery. I thought that they were closed and only doing emergency cases. However I did recall that I had a routine check up booked for next Wednesday. I presumed it would be postponed. To my surprise they have asked me to come in on Monday. There will be the usual precautions of ringing the bell to be let in, having a face mask ( in a dental practice !), using gel and being directed appropriately. I am to contact them if I develop symptoms of Covid before then. Getting back to new normal! Not sure what that is but going with the flow, even if a little frustrated.

Usual mixed messages from the radio about all sorts from pandemic rise, spike, fall or whatever, about quarantines and non quarantines, about Belarus, Trump/Biden, political shenanigans across the world etc....not much new under the sun!

So to my sanity equilibrium recourse in such times...the allotment. I am fortunate in the friend who at present needs help. Today a scare re the weather. There was a majority percentage chance of rain from 10am to 2pm. However the sun was shining at 11am so over the Tay I went. Down to the allotment to dig potatoes, pick runner beans and tomatoes. A fabulously abundant stock. On the way back for lunch at friend's house I picked a big punnet of blackberries. The sun shone the whole time....another maybe, maybe not, go with the flow time.

A lunch of borsch made from her produce. Then cheese with a huge variety of pickled goodies, again mainly from her produce...so rhubarb, tomato, courgette, pepper pickled plus additions of spices and ginger etc. A cornucopia of tastes. Fabulous.

Back for a siesta.....I will face the reality of the unreal media soon. At present I feel healthy and blissfully tired with aches in all the right places.

"One lives to expect the unexpected", as a friend always says. I think one just lives and tries to take it all in one's stride...good and bad alike.
