Friday 30th November, 2020.

I am not sure if the ghouls are out or if a trick and treat will give me a heart attack, in fact is it Halloween tonight or tomorrow? Confusion reigns in my mind, my calendar and in the house...fortunately I can blame Covid and not old age and senility! I have seen two pumpkins outside houses and I saw a cobweb curtain hanging over a front door when I took my walk this morning. The sun was shining so I set off early. In fact I felt in buoyant mood and was impressed by the extra mile I walked. I bumped into ( not literally as that would be illegal! ) an old acquaintance. The 'How are you?' turned in to a sad story of a daughter in mental stress and a husband urinating blood and trying to get a doctor to send him to hospital. I passed the local Medical Centre to see six cars in the doctors' car park and two where the pharmacists park and none in the patients' car park. What does this say? Then I walked up in to the local woods but on the way a horrid thought came to my mind. If the sun is shining, I mused to myself, should I not be taking advantage of it and do some laundry?

Back to the house and four loads of washing in to the washing machine. Stripped my bed and bundled it down to the cellar. It took over three and a half hours to do the washing and hang it outside to dry. The sun and a breeze did their work and as it got dark at 4.30pm so I brought the washing in. The sunset was spectacular but I could not linger long as a Tesco delivery was expected. It arrived on the dot of 5pm. The deliverer was charming but kept his distance. I put the delivery away....the landlady was out. Then I returned to the cellar and started to iron....sheets, pillow cases, towels, assorted clothes. To cap my heroic, saintly activities I also hoovered the house as a present to the landlady ever conscious of cleanliness. ( To her horror and my amusement we have had a plague of slugs in the kitchen.....! Very odd but impressive to me. Nature is remarkable. )

To cap it all I took out my second bar of Tonys chocolonely and ate the whole bar. A reward to myself and such a delight. A treat for Halloween!

Wow, what a day! I have loved it. Now to face Ms Sturgeon and her new tiered system and Mr Trump and his looney Presidential campaign. Is he a trick or a ghoul?

It is just a wonderful world.

Next to my bed for night time reading I have a book entitled ' Imagination and Story...the way to God '. We will see.
